The Church appeal is for the repair and replacement of the roof and the reordering of the West end of St. James' Church in order to further our mission to the people of Dursley by furthering our welcome and hospitality ministry. By adding toilet and kitchen facilities and by providing a large display area from the removal of the rear most pews of the nave, a more welcoming and informative place is hoped to be engendered. Outlined plans have been provided by the architects and these can be viewed by following the links below. On 25th March 2004, at the church Annual Parish Meeting, the appeal was outlined to the people of the parish. An appeal committee, responsible to the Church PCC, has been set up with the specific mandate to, not only oversee the planning process, to ensure that the community needs are met, but also to look into ways and means of raising the necessary funds. It is currently expected that the appeal will run for about 5 years and will need to raise in the order of £540,000. The Appeal Committee is : Rev. Janet, Rev. Tim, Gwyn Lloyd, Clive Orchard, Philip & Judith Staddon, Anne Shipton, Peter Kirvan, Bill Grant. To review the financial situation of the appeal then :-
Plenty of fund raising (and fun raising) events will be arranged for the whole community. If you would like to find out more about these then please click HERE for details of these events both musical and non musical. The first event of the appeal is the official launch service which took place on Sunday 30th January 2005 at 3pm. Read the service report by following this link.
