The Organ in 2004

We are fortunate indeed to have such a splendid instrument in St. James' church which is capable of a wide range of tonal colour and has the capacity to play just about anything from the vast repertoire of organ music. The instrument has been well maintained and recent work has seen the reconstruction of the wind reservoirs, new drawstop motors, the provision of a new piston capture system, the replacement of the original 1888 keyboards and, most recently, the addition of a Solo Division, which is the gift of David Collins (our assistant organist) and Cecil Woodward in memory of the late Diana Collins.
