ST MARK’S NEWS
Dear Friends
July honours the memory of Julius Caesar and it is the first month of the year to be called after an historical figure. The month was named after him at Mark Antony’s suggestion, following and in the same year as Caesar’s assassination. Mark Antony chose this month to pay tribute to him as it was Caesar’s birthday month.
Birthdays – I must say sorry to all the birthday girls – Judith in April, Janet and Jennifer in May and not forgetting Philip’s in June. Belated happy birthday to you all.
We celebrated Bill Turner’s 90th on May 23rd with cake and wine (Clare had made and decorated the cake representing a golf green plus golf ball). Bill loves his golf, thank you Clare. It was nice to see him in Church, we do miss you Bill.
We also miss Robina and Peter in church as they are both unwell and in hospital. We hope and pray that they will soon be able to come home and be back together.
We now look forward to the Service on Sunday 25th July at St. James to mark the final stage of the Appeal and the refurbishment of the Church.
With Love
Marion Pagett
